ALL STAR GAME 2017

This game was played last Monday at 2:00 am in Spain. West Conference won the game against East Conference 192-182, this show was a game without defensive tense with lot of offensive situations, much dunks and awesome plays. The players enjoyed with many highlights of the best players in the league. Remark that Anthony Davis broke more points in a single All Star Game with 52 points, he add 10 boards, last record was from Wilt Chamberlain with 42 points.

Best players in West Team:

Anthony Davis: 52 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals.

Kevin Durant: 21 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists (only 3 players more in history achieved a triple-double)

Russell Westbrook: 41 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists.

Best players in East Team:

Giannis Antetokounmpo: 30 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals.

Kyrie Irving: 22 points, 7 rebounds, 14 assists.

LeBron James: 23 points.

The Spanish player Marc Gasol nearly achieve a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists. In our opinion this game must have more defensive tense for a best show, not only with dunks and alley-hoops.

VERIZON SLAM DUNK

This contest consist in doing amazing slam dunk which are value for 5 judges. The contest have 2 round, the first round and the final. In the contest participate 4 players and only 2 come to the final. In the first round each player have to do 2 slam dunks. This year participated: Aaron Gordon (Orlando Magic), DeAndre Jordan (Los Angeles Clippers), Derrick Jones Jr (Phoenix Suns) and Glen Robinson III (Indiana Pacers)

There was amazing slam dunks in this rounds, for example DeAndre Jordan jump over a Dj Khaled table or Glen Robinson III who jump over a man who is sitting in the shoulders of another man who is stand. Moreover, Aaron Gordon use a drone to pass the ball.

Glen Robinson III and Derrick Jones Jr come to the final and they did awesome slam dunks like Derrick Jones Jr over 3 persons and pass the ball between his legs or Glen Robinson III who jump over 3 persons and doing a back slam dunk.

Finally Glen Robinson III won the competition with a monster dunk (50 points)

JBJ THREE-POINT CONTEST

This contest consist in throw the ball into a basket from 3 points line. The winner is who get the best score. There are 5 carts, 2 near the base line in each sides, 2 in each wings and 1 in the center. In this cart there are 5 balls, 4 of this balls cost one 1 point and the last ball of each cart cost 2 points except 1 cart which all balls cost 2 points.

In the contest participate 8 competitors and go to the final the best 3.This year in this contest participate: C.J. McCollum (Portland trail Blazers), Eric Gordon (Houston Rockets), Kemba Walker (Charlotte Hornets), Klay Thompson (Golden State Warrior), Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers), Kyle Lowry (Toronto Raptors), Nick Young (Los Angeles Lakers) and Wesley Matthew (Dallas Maverick).

Score in the first round:

1. Kemba Walker: 20 points
2. Kyrie Irving:  20 points
3. Wesley Matthew: 11 points
4. Eric Gordon:  24 points
5. Nick Young: 18 points
6. C.J. McCollum: 10 points
7. Kyle Lowry: 11points
8. Klay Thompson: 18 points

Competitors who came to the final were Kemba Walker, Kyrie Irving and Eric Gordon.

Score in the final: Kemba Walker: 17 points / Kyrie Irving: 20 points / Eric Gordon:  20 points

In the final Kyrie Irving an Eric Gordon were a draw and they have to do an extra round to tiebreak. Eric Gordon could win but he failed the last throw. The final score in this round was: Kyrie Irving: 18 points / Eric Gordon: 21 points

Eric Gordon won the competition. There was an unusual contest because great players like Lowry or CJ McCollum got few points and the favourite, Klay Thompson, couldn´t come to the final.

 

RISING STARS CHALLENGE: WORLD VS USA

This weekend the rookies and sophomores of USA played against the rest of rookies and sophomores of the world. The game was an awesome spectacle with a lot of points due to the low intensity on defense of both teams and it was not decided until the last moments how is normal in this kind of games.

The team World won by 150-141 and the MVP of the game was the Denver Nuggets’ point guard Jamal Murray (36 pts / 3 reb / 11 ast). In the team World the New York Knicks’ forward Kristaps Porzingis also had a remarkable performance (24 pts / 10 reb / 2 ast). By the team USA we can highlight the performance of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ center Karl-Anthony Towns (24 pts / 11 reb / 3 ast) and the Charlotte Hornets’ center Frank Kaminsky (33 pts / 3 reb / 2 ast).

The New York Knicks’ center Willy Hernangomez (2 pts / 6 reb / 1 ast) and the Oklahoma City Thunder´s forward Alex Abrines (3 pts / 0 reb / 1 ast) were the only Spanish players that participated in this game and their performance were nothing special.

TACO BELL SKILLS CHALLENGE 2017

As it indicates the name of the challenge, is a challenge in which the players will have to show their abilities with theball through a series of tests. The contest has a format of elimination in which there take part 8 players divided into two sides, a side in which there are the Guards and another side in which are the Bigs.

This year participate by the side of the Guards: 

Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz) VS John Wall (Washington Wizards)

Isaiah Thomas (Boston Celtics) VS Devin Broker (Phoenix Suns)

And by the other side (Bigs):

Kristaps Porzingis (New York) VS DeMarcus Cousins (Sacremento Kings)

Anthony Davis (Pelicans) VS Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets)

The skills challenge consists of realizing a zigzag in possession of the ball along the court, introduce the ball in a receptacle from a 6 meters distance approximately with a chest pass, once introduced run to the opposite basket to realise a lay up and then run again to the other basket to make a triple, the fastest player who realizing it correctly will win.

After the first challenge the semifinals are: 

Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz) VS Isaiah Thomas (Boston Celtics)

Kristaps Porzingis (New York) VS Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets)

Against any prognosis Isaiah Thomas the big favorite remained eliminated after an exciting crossing in which none of two candidates were managing to note down the shot of three.By the other side, Kristaps Porzingis won without lot of difficulties.

The final was at the end Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz) VS Kristaps Porzingis (New York)

Latvias´ giant Porzingis won the final and showed the world that inspite of his 2. 21m of height he is a big triple thrower and he was proclaimed the winner of the Taco Bell Skills Challenge 2017.
